1. Who we are
ITRWise (itrwise.com) is an Indian income tax return preparation tool. We help individuals prepare and review their ITR filings for submission on the Income Tax Department portal. ITRWise is not affiliated with the Government of India or the Income Tax Department.
2. What data we collect
Account information
When you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile picture from Google OAuth. We use your email address as your account identifier.
Tax documents you upload
You may upload documents such as Form 16, Form 26AS, AIS, TIS, capital gains statements from brokers (Zerodha, Groww, Wintwealth, etc.), and interest certificates. These are used solely to auto-fill your tax return within the app.
Tax return data
Income figures, deductions, capital gains, and other data you enter or that is extracted from your documents is stored against your account to allow you to return and continue your filing.
Usage data
We may collect basic anonymised usage logs (page visits, errors) to diagnose technical issues. We do not use third-party analytics trackers.
3. How we use your data
- To auto-fill your tax return from documents you upload
- To save your progress so you can return and continue at any time
- To calculate your tax liability and compare old vs new regime
- To generate an ITR XML file for you to submit on the Income Tax portal
- To send you product updates if you opt in (you can unsubscribe at any time)
We never sell your data. We never share your financial data with any third party for advertising, profiling, or any commercial purpose.
4. Where your data is stored
Your account data and tax return information is stored in a secure PostgreSQL database hosted on Supabase (servers in Singapore / AWS ap-south-1 region). Uploaded document files are stored in Supabase Storage. The application is hosted on Railway. All data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and at rest.

No advertising networks, data brokers, or analytics platforms receive your data.
6. Document processing
Documents you upload (PDFs, Excel files) are processed on our servers to extract tax data. Extracted data is stored in your account. The original files are retained so you can re-process them if needed. You can delete your uploaded documents at any time from the Import page.
7. Data retention
Your data is retained for as long as your account is active. If you wish to delete your account and all associated data, email us at vivekfrancis@gmail.com and we will permanently delete all your data within 7 days.
8. Your rights
- Access: You can view all data we hold about you by logging into your account.
- Correction: You can edit your tax return data directly within the app at any time.
- Deletion: You can request full deletion of your account and data by emailing us.
- Portability: Your tax return can be exported as an XML file from the app at any time.
9. Cookies
We use a single session cookie to keep you signed in (managed by NextAuth.js). We do not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or third-party cookies of any kind.
10. Children's privacy
ITRWise is intended for adults filing their own income tax returns. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under the age of 18.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email or a notice within the app. Continued use of ITRWise after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
